Get a Second Job!
(Excerpt from You Can’t Send a Duck to Eagle School)
By Mac Anderson

You may have heard the quote…“The speed of the leader will determine
the rate of the pack.”  Well here’s another one for you…“The attitude of
the leader will determine the attitude of the pack.”

Because I’m the founder of Successories ®, some people think that this
guy probably never has a negative thought. How wrong they would be!
Like every human being, I have doubts, fears, and disappointments in my
life.

As a leader, however, we must manage our attitudes. Do we need to be
perfect? Of course not. But, we can never underestimate the influence that
our actions and our attitudes will have on our team. Churchill said,

“The price of LEADERSHIP
is RESPONSIBILITY.”

…and part of that responsibility
is to STAY POSITIVE whether
you feel like it or not.

MANAGING YOUR ATTITUDE IS A VERY PERSONAL THING. However,
for me, one of the most important factors is exercise. My attitude and
my energy levels are directly tied to exercise. I can be doing everything
else right, but without regular exercise I can feel my attitude “heading
south”.

I’ve got a friend who is 65 but looks like he’s 55. I saw him the other
day and said, “Tony, you look great.” He said, “I feel great! I got a
second job.” I said, “A second job?

I thought your import business was doing well.” He said, “It is. My
second job is on the treadmill from 6-7 every morning. When I started
looking at it as a second job, I showed up whether I wanted to or not!”

He said, “The pay is lousy, but the benefits to my health and my attitude
are priceless!”

Exercise, more than anything, is a “stress buster”. And, don’t kid yourself,
stress is a killer. In fact the World Health Organization estimates that
80% of all illnesses are directly or indirectly caused by stress. Therefore,
if you’re not proactive in busting stress, it’s very likely to come back and
bust you!

By Dr. Geeta S. Vora

I would like to end this series with some Thoughts to Ponder:

1.  People have a choice in the life they are creating and they have a choice in how they

are experiencing the life they are living.

2.  People who make a different choice are the people who make a different world.

3.  Change is inevitable. If you don’t invite the change you want into your life, you’ll

experience whatever change comes your way (sometimes created by people who are

       on their own mission).

4.  It seems that life is a “pay me now or pay me later” proposition. We can either go

through the discomfort of change now or endure the pain of regret later.

 5. Spiritual teaching advises us: “pray as if everything depended on God and act as if     everything depended on us” 6. Thoughts on the World around us: i)  Change is possible, we know that,     and we can alter our relationship     with the world around us,      to create a sustainable future…..    The environment is much more than,    a policy position to me;    it is a profoundly moral obligation.   We only have One Earth.   And if we do not keep it healthy and safe,  Every other gift we leave our children,  will be meaningless.

           ……Al Gore

ii)  Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has……..Margaret Mead

iii) The solution of present-day problems lies in the re-establishment of harmonious relationship between man and nature and between humanity. Development is synonymous with culture. When we sublimate nature in a way that we achieve peace, happiness, prosperity and, ultimately, fulfillment along with satisfying our basic needs, we march towards culture……Sunderlal Bahuguna, Chipko Movement.

7.  We have to strife for a multi-polar world. It is the only answer.

 8.  As per the title of Al Gore’s Oscar-Winning documentary film, we have to face “An      Inconvenient Truth”. 9.  Acronym for MISTAKES from John H. Maxwell’s Failing Forward     Messages that give us feedback about life.     Interruptions that should cause us to reflect and think.     Signposts that direct us to the right path.     Tests that push us toward greater maturity.     Awakenings that keep us in the game mentally.     Keys that we can use to unlock the next door of opportunity.     Explorations that let us journey where we’ve never been before.     Statements about our development and progress.

10.  Our most precious natural resource is not our mineral deposits or our beautiful

forests, it is the mental attitude and the imagination of the people of every

generation who have mixed experience with education to deliver goods and services

that improves the lives of people around the world.  OUR REAL WEALTH IS         THE INTANGIBLE POWER OF THOUGHT WHICH LEADS TO

        DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE.

11. “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”…… Mahatma Gandhi

 12.  “Nine-tenths of wisdom is being wise in time.”……President Teddy Roosevelt. 13.  Remember:  Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve. 14.  It is not our differences that matter. It is the meanness behind them that is       undoubtedly ugly.”  ……………….Mahatma Gandhi

By Dr. Geeta S. Vora

The wisest answers in my life have been borne from the combination of imagination, God’s direction, conscious and my willingness to act on what I determine.  So, here are some of my solutions. I have been accused by many as being the eternal optimist or seeing the world through “rose-tinted” glasses. I have hope and faith that mankind will emerge victorious. All we have to do:

1. The first step is to Adopt the Consciousness of Oneness.

Strive for inner peace. Just the very sound of it tells us where to go. You can’t find it outside yourself; you have to go inside. You have to go to your inner source, the source that gives us all unbelievable resources, strength, power and guidance to use in our life journey.  Jean Houston, social scientist and anthropologist says it best in her book, Jump Time: “People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine, but when darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within”

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” This is the Golden Rule that we all know, but we do not always live by it. Wow! Can you imagine what the world would be if we actually lived by the Golden Rule? You can’t live by the Golden Rule if you think you are separate from everyone else. Only within the paradigm of Oneness can the concept be achieved. This is what nuts and bolts Spirituality is all about. When you change the way you live your life, you begin to influence others in the way they live their lives. It is in this conscious change that we collectively influence how the human race evolves.

I would like to talk about the” hundredth monkey” phenomenon. It is an apocryphal idea that attempts to explain what science cannot. The story goes that scientists observing monkeys on the Japanese island of Koshima in 1952 found something peculiar. They watched as one monkey learned to wash sand off its sweet potato before eating it. Over the next six years, one by one other monkeys picked up the same technique, until the fall of 1958, a good portion of the monkey population was washing its food. Over the course of a few more days, scientist witnessed what seemed like spontaneous learning combustion.  Overnight, practically every monkey on the island was washing his food. Inexplicably, monkeys on neighboring islands, monkeys who had no contact with the Koshima monkeys or who had never shown the ability, began washing their food.

What happened? It has been postulated that when a critical mass of individuals learn the same behavior, they gain the power to spread that learning to others, even over great distances. The “hundredth monkey” refers to that one individual whose additional energy turns a loosely affiliated group of individuals into a cohesive unit with the power to effect quantum shifts in consciousness. You’re wondering, how is this possible? If we consider the ways we are connected to each other beyond the physical presence, it is not so hard to fathom. Emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, consciously and unconsciously…we are connected to each other in many ways that are beyond understanding. These bonds make us each a player in the universal orchestra. Its encouraging notion: the evolution of, someone, somewhere else in the world, can help me along my mission path, and I can do the same for someone else.”…Essence of Concept of Oneness.2.  The second step is to look at our social-economic structure. Social-economic backwardness makes mankind prey to poverty. It is the single biggest factor. To eradicate it is one of the United Nations millennium goals. You want to hear a scary statistics? The entire economics of the poorest 48 countries adds up to less money than you will find in the Swiss bank accounts of the 3 richest people in the world. The amount of giving by economically well-to-do countries is the first part.

The old Chinese proverb: You give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, you teach him how to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.  The second part is to teach self-sustainability. To make people self-sustaining is to bring hope into their lives. This is the goal of Kiva (micro-lending) and my group Lift Kids, to name a few. By making contributions and giving support to these types of non-profit organizations, you can make a difference right now.  NOW is the most important moment there is.  Self-sustainability will ignite the flame of the cannon whose explosion will signal the eradication commencement of the despair, failure, poverty, diseases and all other plagues that threaten to destroy mankind.

We are at a crossroads on this planet. We have made this planet almost unlivable to the human life form. If we continue down the path that we are on now, we could see this happen in the not too distant future. Our present belief system has taken us to this point in our existence. Only a change in our belief system will determine whether we will continue on a path of destruction or allow us to follow another path toward a more enlightened existence.

You are totally at choice as to which belief system serves you best. You can believe that you are separate from all things or you can believe that you are one with all things. You always have choice in what you believe and how you create your life. NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

Odds are that sooner or later, most everyone reading these articles will get a wake-up call of varying volume. My hope for you is that in these moments of trauma, small or large,

you’ll snap out of your waking slumber with a splash of growth that moves you. But even if trauma isn’t at your doorstep, perhaps you feel that something is missing, that you haven’t realized the potential of who you are or who you are meant to be. Be proactive. Don’t wait. Look out to the horizon, consider what lies ahead, and get started, even if you begin with small steps. The old saying applies: inch by inch it’s a cinch; by the yard it’s hard.

Wow! What a lot of work! But consider the alternative. Most of us need to bottom out in some major way, or suffer through some titanic personal implosion, before we are ready to take up meaningful self-coaching. That’s because many people live by the motto: If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. It’s often easier to settle for what’s only half working than to deal with the inevitable discomfort of changing our habits of thought and action. But what’s half working is also half not working. We wouldn’t settle for this kind of performance from office equipment, why should we settle for it in our lives?

The key is to be aware of and understand what serves you and what does not serve you. You will know that you are creating all the circumstances of your physical life and you have the power to change it when you desire. It is then up to you to create your life by making conscious choices as to what serves you best.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS. IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE.

We have seen the sun set on the hopes of many.  Yet as Ernest Hemingway so eloquently said, the sun also rises. Let us not sleep through the dawn. This is the time of the awakening of humanity.

For ages, we have been seeking to create Peace on Earth, Goodwill to All. I believe that we can still make the Christmas card come true. Even though our environment may not hold out the way we are treating it, and our technology which is giving us the ability to produce weapons of mass destruction, is running ahead of our spiritual development, I remain optimistic.

Now, there are two ways we can go about trying to achieve it. One way is the way that organized religions have been trying for centuries: convert everyone to the One True Religion and get them to follow the rules.  This is Save the World by Spreading the Faith approach that has not only failed to save the world, but has moved us to destroying it.

The other way is to expand human consciousness to include the awareness that everything in life is part of a unified whole, and that our different religions are merely wonderful divergent paths to the same destination—a destination which is everlasting embrace and love of God.

The doctrine of Oneness used as a basis for all human political, economic, social, educational and religious decisions would alter life as it is lived on earth. It would enrich human race.  We would embrace a God that would cause people to live a new kind of life on an individual personal level as well as globally as part of the collective humanity.

Humans would understand that Allah, Brahman, Jehovah, Krishna, Yahweh are among the many names humans have given to the Supreme Being or the Creator. Human beings will understand that God’s words are found in all of the world’s Holy Scriptures and that no scripture is more authoritative than any other, but that each contains wisdom which leads to greater understanding. They will also realize that there are many messengers of God, that all people everywhere are messengers and that their life is their message.

In summary, humans will stop trying to figure out which is the right text and who is the right messenger. They will simply look to see which text and which messenger speaks to them in a way that makes it possible for them to express and experience their connection to The Divine and to understand the great wonders of life. They will also stop trying to convenience others that the messenger and the texts that has touched their heart is the only one that people should turn to. Wars and killings in the name of a particular text or messenger will be impossible to justify and will all but disappear. Getting to Heaven will no longer be the ultimate purpose in life. Creating heaven wherever you are will be the main objective. To experience this, they would not have to follow any rites or rituals. However, they may choose to do any of the rituals or rites if it pleases them or helps them to stay connected.

Now humanity is paying with life itself for its lack of progress in understanding life. It is life itself that is being threatened and in too many cases ended because of lack of understanding.

Humanity must come to a new understanding of life and of that which reflects life, which we call Allah, Brahma, Jehovah, Yahweh and many other names that we have given to the Supreme Being or the All and the Only. It’s no longer a question of convenience; it’s a question of survival. If we have been unable to keep up in our sociological development with the technological advancement, it’s because we are using the model of Power Over, rather than Power With, to build our societies.  We are still using ownership and control of our resources, materials, products and services over sharing and accessibility as our basic economic and social model.

It used to be that our violence could damage only a few. Then our technology advanced and we learned to damage a great many. Today, we can damage everyone. It used to be that violence was the last resort. Today, with a full moral justification, it is employed as the first resort.  Each one of you has a name for it, and for each one of us the name justifies our actions. This is where humanity is today.  After all these years, it still comes down to who can strike the most terror into the hearts of most people. Everyone considers that they are “right” in doing what they are doing.  They still see it is more important to be “right” than to be “happy”.

Today, we are lacking in peace not only among people in the world, but also within our heart.  It is in the heart that the peace must start. Behavior is based on beliefs and beliefs are closely held to the heart.  When we truly believe in our hearts that We Are All One, then everything will change. The people will act collectively as they almost do individually.  The United Nations has set the goals for the millennium. It is almost the end of 2007 and one of the goals, such as world hunger, is nowhere close to being met. We can’t even stop people from starving to death on our planet earth where there is more than enough food for everyone. You might ask the question, “Why?”  Answer is because we are trying to solve our problems at the same level that created them. We keep saying that eradicating poverty is a political problem or an economic problem or even a military problem in some countries.  Not just world hunger, but all the major problems that we have created by what we believe.  The simple fact is that we have not been taught that we are all members of a single group called Humanity. Or, we may have been taught that but we may not have been taught what that means as a practical matter; to take what it means and place it in our daily lives in a truly functional way.

When those people were massacred in Darfur, Sudan, we shook our heads and wondered what the world has come to?  Would we let one member of our own family die of starvation or genocide?  Of Course Not!  We would do anything to stop that.  So the problem is very clear.  We don’t see the people in Darfur as members of our own family.  We look at something as Darfur or the 2004 tsunami, and we don’t see at any level how we are causing it to happen?  Our Consciousness of Separation is what allows it to happen. In the case of tsunami, is it possible that all the years of underground testing of nuclear weapons that has ripped the earth’s interior apart, has added to the shifting of the tectonic plates, advancing by millennia the drifting and crashing of the plates into one another? Is it possible that the many other ways, in which we mistreat our planet, may have produced the additional environmental disasters, which we have been increasingly encountering?

Do humanity’s behaviors, decisions and choices—which arise out of our consciousness have any impact at all on the ongoing process of the planet’s evolution and of life itself?

If people used humanity’s interest rather than what they claim to be God’s interest to guide their actions, they might achieve different results.  Humanity’s interest cannot

be ill-defined.  They are self-apparent. It is life.  This is the greatest interest of God as well, but some people claim otherwise. They imagine that God has greater interest than human life. That is what allows them to waste it. That is what allows them to fly airplanes into buildings shouting “Allah is Great” or drop bombs on the heads of innocent civilians, paid with money on which is imprinted In God We Trust.

From Huston Smith’s powerful book The World’s Religion, we learn that the world’s three biggest religions are based on consecutive revelations spanning thoughts over years. He stated:

  1. Abraham brought to humanity that there were not a string of deities, but only One Ruler; one God. Moses brought to humanity what the One Ruler’s rules were. He said there were ten of them.
  2. Jesus brought to humanity revelations that the One Ruler’s rules could be reduced

to One Rule—which has been called Golden.

  1. Muhammad brought to humanity the revelation that the One Ruler’s One Rule

could be applied in very practical ways in everyday life, converting generalities into specifics.

Now, if God is Life and Life is God, there is no separation between God and anything at all.  Even traditional religions say that God is All in All. It follows that there is nothing that exists except God in It’s varying Forms.  God can differentiate Itself in countless ways, which It does as a means of Self-Expression. Yet differentiation is not a division or separation. Hence, everything you could possibly give God, God has already received from you, because God is you. Hence, God needs nothing from the individual aspect of Itself that you think of as “you”. In the same token, anything that God could possibly give you, He has already given you. It exists in you as you. Hence, you want nothing from God and need not ask for anything. It has been written; “Even before you ask, I will have answered.”

Hence, the only prayer we need to say to God is one of gratitude.  This is the only prayer that every Messenger or the Great Master’s has ever done.  All you need from God is already in you. When you ask for something, you are saying that it is a lack in your life. This makes it very difficult for you to experience it because you cannot experience what you deny.

Every moment is a life in process.  It is in the moment-to-moment of your journey, that you decide who you are and who you choose to be. And, the best part of this process, is you do not have to be who you used to be. Sound’s Wonderful! Indeed.

The five attitudes of Godliness are joy(bliss), love, acceptance, blessing and gratitude. It does not say anything about being fearful, angry, violent, judgmental and condemning, even if others have told you that. If God wants nothing from you, then you can create the life you wish to experience i.e. …total love.

THAT IS THE ESSENCE OF GOD.

The Concept of Oneness

Spiritually Create Your Life Within the Concept of Oneness
By Richard Blackstone

Each of us has within us the same powers and abilities as the creator of everything that exists, seen and unseen. We are made of the same stuff. We are one. Our creator created us in her image and likeness, and we were sent into the physical world to experience what we know of as concepts. To do this we are allowed to create any and all experiences that we choose during the time we occupy our body.Creating is our mission. We are creating machines. Being separate hides this from us. Being one reveals this to us. Being separate causes us to react to our experiences. Being one invites us to be the cause of our experience. These two entirely different paradigms manifest entirely different experiences. Being at the effect of your experience allows you to not claim any responsibility. Being at the cause of your experience means that you are responsible for all that you create. We have created and co-created the world as it exists today. Unfortunately we have created most of it unconsciously, but we still created it.We have created the idea that we live in a world where we are separate from each other, separate from God, and separate from our planet. We can just as easily create a world where we are one with each other, one with our God, and one with our planet. All we need to do is choose to do that and create it.This is how it gets done. Simple, yet complex. It all starts with you. You create every facet of how you choose to experience your life. It all starts with your thoughts. As you abandon the thoughts of being separate you adhere to the thoughts of oneness. Your thoughts of oneness band tightly with the other thoughts of oneness to create a collective thought of oneness throughout the universe. When the oneness mentality is stronger than the separation mentality the universe manifests your creation into your reality. This happens individually and this happens collectively. As you create this for yourself you see the peaceful loving outcome of living within this oneness paradigm. You wonder why you didn’t choose this before. Instead of the drama, you could have chosen peace. But you understand that the past is just your past. The wake does not drive the boat. The boat of ‘Your Life’ is propelled forward by the present moment decisions you choose and create every second of your life.Create who you choose to be. Don’t let somebody else tell you who you are supposed to be. You are the creator of your life. It is your play and you are the writer, director and star of the show. You know deep within you that whatever you choose is possible so why not think big. You aren’t doing yourself any favors by playing small. Most of us have created that experience before and have observed that it doesn’t serve us. So think big. You are big. You are one with God. Does it get any bigger than that? What you conceive and believe, you can achieve. Make this your motto. Write it in your day timer or on your message board. Start thinking it all the time. When your mind thinks negative thoughts, drop those thoughts and replace them with this new thought. “Whatever I conceive and believe, I can achieve.” Then believe it. Test it consciously so you can see the results of your creations. Be aware of the correlation between your thoughts, words, and deeds and what shows up in your life.Create peace in your life. Create harmony. Create abundance. Create unconditional love. Create a paradigm for yourself that says you are one with nature, and one with God, and one with your fellow man. Create this consciously and then be aware of its manifestation.Notice how your life is more peaceful. Notice the harmony in your relationships with other people and with your environment. Notice the abundance in which you live. Notice that you give and receive love unconditionally and therefore much more freely. Notice that you have a relationship with nature that is more meaningful than you have ever experienced before.Notice that the God who seemed so separate from you now seems to be an integral part of your very being. And notice that you stop making judgments about your fellow man and see them in the light of acceptance as another aspect of yourself, with a different body and different agenda, but with a universal spirit that is on the same mission.Create this for yourself and then co-create with your fellow human beings to manifest a world where your choices, and therefore your creations, are based in love, not fear. See this world unfold before you and rejoice in the peace and harmony that you have created. It is your choice. It will always be your choice.

The Concept of Oneness

(Article 6-3)

ONENESS:

One of the great ironies of human nature is the fact that the very structure intended to enrich our relationship with God is the one thing which divides us most as a human family. For countless eons, more wars have been fought on religious principles than for any other reason. Even to this day, wars, bloodshed, political battles, and countless examples of our inhumanity to one another are commonplace as one group tries to instill (or enforce) its belief systems, its politics, or the supremacy of its God onto the lives of others. These conflicts are not simply between various religions but are also within each denomination. There are sects within Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam-within every religion!-many convinced that they are just a little more right than anyone else. Even various churches, temples, and synagogues have found differences with other members of their own sect who have somehow fallen away from the “original” or the “true” faith.

The first lesson for six months should be One-One-One- One; Oneness of God, oneness of man’s relation, oneness of force, oneness of time, oneness of purpose, Oneness in every effort-Oneness- Oneness!
Reading 900-429

In addition to separating people from one another, these conflicts have also caused individuals to become disillusioned with religion-some even becoming convinced that religion is a waste of time. Too often, the result has been that people have given up their faith in God because of their disappointment in humankind.

WHERE IS thine OWN will? One with HIS, or to the glorifying of thine own desires — thine own selfish interests?

Reading 900-429

Interestingly enough, the Edgar Cayce material states that part of the problem is due to our ignorance of our oneness with one another.

Cayce’s information presents a hopeful and inspiring approach to spirituality and religion that inextricably weaves all of humanity together. Rather than focusing upon the form of specific religions or dogmas, the readings instead focus upon the importance of every single soul attempting to manifest an awareness of the living Spirit in the earth.

“what is the difference? …Truth…is of the One source. Are there not trees of oak, of ash, of pine? There are the needs of these for meeting this or that experience…Then, all will fill their place. Find not fault with any, but rather show forth as to just how good a pine, or ash, or oak, or vine thou art!”

Reading 254-87

From Cayce’s perspective, our goal is not to simply wait for heaven or to escape the earth; instead, we are challenged to bring an awareness of the Creator into our lives and into our surroundings wherever we may be, right now.

There is a common bond we all share as a collective humanity: There is but one God, and we are all God’s children. In order to reawaken that sense of connectedness we share with one another, the readings state that the start of any spiritual journey should begin with the knowledge that the Lord God is One. Regardless of the name we call God or the religion on earth that we feel drawn to, there is but one Creator, one Source, one Law. In fact, perhaps more than anything else, this concept of “oneness” is the underlying philosophy of the Edgar Cayce readings.

Just What Is Oneness?
This notion of oneness in a world so filled with variety may, at first, seem a difficult concept to comprehend. After all, we are surrounded by a myriad of plants, trees, animals, experiences, and people. Rather than attempting to make all things the same, however, oneness suggests instead that we have the opportunity to view this rich diversity as an example of the multiple ways in which the One Spirit tries to find expression in our lives. Since there is only one God-the source of all that exists-ultimately, the universe must be composed of only one Force.

Oneness as a force implies that all things are interrelated. Every one of us has a connection to one another, the earth, the universe, and to God. This one force is a force for good which is attempting to bring the spirituality of the Creator into the earth. Unfortunately, because of our limited awareness of the power of free will, individuals are able to direct that force into selfish purposes and desires, creating “evil” in the process.

In terms of spirituality, the concept of oneness suggests that God is not limited to expressing through one religion alone. Instead, the Creator manifests in individuals’ lives because of their faith and because of their relationship to the spiritual Source, not because of their specific religion. From Cayce’s perspective, religion is the form in which individuals attempt to understand the manifestation of this Spirit. God can (and does!) work through every soul in the earth.

The good news is that, in spite of how things may appear in the world today, the readings assert that all of Creation will eventually be brought into an awareness of this oneness and of the Law of Love which it implies. One of our challenges as individuals is to make the world a better place because we have lived in it. Perhaps the best approach to this consciousness is reflected in the Bible when it states that we must love God with all our heart, mind, and soul, and our neighbor as ourselves.

As a means of discovering the oneness of Spirit, the readings encourage comparative religious study. Through such a discipline, each of us might see beyond surface differences and, instead, find the commonalties we share with one another:

...coordinate the teachings, the philosophies of the east, and the west, the oriental and the occidental, the new truths and the old… Correlate not the differences, but where all religions meet- there is one God! “Know, O Israel, the Lord God is one!
